Climate change, agroecological transition, generational renewal. How to turn these European challenges into opportunities for future farmers with Erasmus+ partnerships?

The new generation of European farmers faces numerous challenges: climate-related (mitigation and adaptation), environmental (agroecological transition), societal (animal welfare, organic and local food), economic and demographic challenges; these are linked to workforce renewal, European food sovereignty, and the preservation of the European family farming model.

TCA description

Themes and objectives

The new generation of European farmers faces numerous challenges: climate-related (mitigation and adaptation), environmental (agroecological transition), societal (animal welfare, organic and local food), economic and demographic challenges; these are linked to workforce renewal, European food sovereignty, and the preservation of the European family farming model.

These issues, which represent both threats and opportunities, are central to the concerns and strategies of the European Commission and EU Member States.

The TCA should encourage the development of new Erasmus+ partnership projects that provide European added value and deliver outcomes addressing these issues.

Expected outcomes

• Support institutions in establishing European partnership projects under Erasmus+ KA2 (KA210 and KA220) for the vocational education and training or higher education sectors;

• Develop participants' expertise on issues related to training future European agricultural workers to address the challenges of climate change, generational renewal, and agroecological transition;

• Share the best educational practices of European institutions regarding training for these transitions.

Additional information

Further information is available in the attached “practical information” document.

• Arrival: 16/11/2026 at 18:00

• Departure: 19/11/2026, after lunch (optional)

Travel arrangements should be made so that participants arrive before the conference begins and do not leave before it ends.

As part of our commitment to an environmentally friendly event, we recommend choosing sustainable means of transport when travelling to Strasbourg.

• For French participants: You can travel from France to Strasbourg by train (the preferred mode of transport): sncf-connect.com

• For European participants: If you are travelling from elsewhere in Europe, you can make all or part of the journey by train. Some tools to help you plan your daytime or overnight journey include RailEurope, Trainline, and NightJet.

The following tool can also help you plan your journey by comparing travel emissions: lowtrip.fr

Participant profile

This event is specifically aimed at organisations that are newcomers to developing Erasmus+ partnership projects.

The target organisations are:

• Technical agricultural education institutions: teachers, management staff, education coordinators, and international relations officers;

• Higher education institutions specialising in long-term agricultural education (agricultural engineering, veterinary medicine) and holding a valid ECHE charter: teachers, management staff, education coordinators, and international relations officers;

• Relevant agricultural professional organisations, associations, companies, etc.

Participants are expected to have the ability and interest to involve their institutions in Erasmus+ projects, at least as project partners, even if they are not authorised signatories or decision-makers.

A maximum of two or three participants per country is expected. This TCA is open to all Erasmus+ programme countries and Ukraine.
