TCA description

Themes and objectives

In line with the identified multiannual priority topics (foreign language teaching and learning and the development of key competences) and the Erasmus+ priority of inclusion and diversity, the National Agency will organise a two-day international TCA event on multilingualism and multiculturalism in schools/universities. The event will focus on the importance of valuing all languages and cultures present in the classroom and promoting multilingualism across the curriculum, particularly through CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).

The aim of this thematic and contact seminar is to raise teachers’/educators’ awareness of the value of multilingualism for everyone and support them in exploring ways to integrate it into their practice. The event will highlight the importance of cooperation between language teachers and teachers of other subjects in delivering CLIL lessons. Participants will explore new opportunities for cooperation, network and connect with potential project partners (Erasmus+, eTwinning).

Expected outcomes

• Learn about relevant methodologies for promoting and supporting all languages present in the classroom. Develop teachers’/educators’ skills in integrating languages and other subjects (CLIL). Reflect on the challenges in multilingual and multicultural classrooms and how to address them.

• Meet other teachers/educators and share practices and strategies for supporting multilingual learners. Connect with other European schools/universities to design and implement joint international projects.

• Gain new ideas and discover useful resources for implementing multilingual and multicultural practices in the classroom.

• Explore how Erasmus+ can offer professional development and mobility opportunities to support teachers/educators.

The event will be designed for 40 participants: teachers from school education, VET and adult education, as well as higher education staff working in initial teacher education. Applications must be submitted via the SALTO form.
