TCA description

Themes and objectives

The IT02 National Agency (INDIRE), in cooperation with the European Association of Conservatoires, Music Academies and Musikhochschulen (AEC), is organising a TCA in Milan to strengthen the participation of conservatoires in Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships, Erasmus Mundus, Capacity Building and Alliances programmes and to encourage active participation in international cooperation projects in the Higher Education sector.

Although these institutions have strong potential for innovation and interdisciplinary work, they frequently face challenges related to project design, partnership development and strategic internationalisation. Addressing these gaps is essential to ensuring more inclusive and diverse participation in the Erasmus+ Programme.

The TCA will therefore focus on raising awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities and building capacity, highlighting the role of these opportunities as key tools for promoting innovation and addressing major European priorities such as digital transformation, inclusion, sustainability and cultural development.

The activity will provide participants with a structured environment in which to gain a clearer understanding of the Erasmus+ project framework, share good practices and experiences, discuss common challenges and explore potential project ideas in the fields of music and education. Emphasis will be placed on active participation, ensuring that all participants can contribute to and benefit from the group's collective knowledge and experience.

Expected outcomes

The TCA aims to increase opportunities for cooperation among participating organisations, institutions and individuals, helping them to design better Erasmus+ projects (Cooperation Partnerships, Erasmus Mundus, Capacity Building and Alliances) to promote and strengthen the European higher music education sector.

This objective will be achieved through a two-pronged approach:

Networking: Participants will have the opportunity to establish new connections and strengthen existing ones with colleagues in the music and arts education sector. Sharing experiences and good practices will facilitate the identification of potential partners for future projects and contribute to building long-term international cooperation links.

Learning outcomes: Sessions will be led by thematic experts and representatives of participating organisations, who will present relevant good practices and provide in-depth insights into key aspects of Erasmus+ project management, including project design, budgeting and the evaluation of results.

Building on this knowledge base, the TCA will adopt a “learning by doing” approach supported by participatory methods such as group discussions, bar camps and practical exercises. This will enable participants to engage actively in the learning process and share their perspectives, reservations, challenges and expectations regarding international cooperation.

The activity will then progress to a more hands-on phase, in which participants will take part in parallel working groups aimed at fostering the joint development of new project ideas and potential initiatives in the music and arts education sector.

As a result, participants will enhance their project development skills and gain practical knowledge of designing Cooperation Partnerships.

Additional information

The event will take place over four days in Milan and will bring together representatives of the Italian National Agency Erasmus+ INDIRE, EAC and EACEA, as well as experts in the fields of music and education.

Held at the Milan Conservatory, the event will combine working sessions with networking and cultural activities, including an opportunity to attend a concert performed by the Erasmus Orchestra.
