Peer Mentoring & Wellbeing Labs for Internships

This concept focuses on “Peer Mentoring & Wellbeing Labs for Internships” and proposes a learning design for vocational learners and trainers that can be piloted in partner countries. Participants trial learning activities on emotional awareness, collaboration and help-seeking, monitoring learning and participation rather than clinical outcomes. Vocational Learning and Careers is addressed through complementary tasks. Partners compare local pilots and turn useful practices into a resource that can be adapted to different settings.

Illustrative Project Concept

An editorial proposal inspired by titles in project selection lists. It is not the source project’s actual application or implementation description. Participant numbers, duration and budget must be set separately after a needs analysis.

Logic chain from need to impact

  1. 1

    Need

Vocational students feel alone in their first weeks at the company and some drop out of the internship. Evidence: internship attendance and dropout records, interviews with coordinating teachers, a student survey.

  2. 2

    Objective

Set up a support model in which experienced students act as peer mentors for new interns.

  3. 3

    Activity

Partner schools prepare a mentor training programme together, test it during their internship periods and compare both countries' practice.

  4. 4

    Output

A peer mentor training programme, a mentor–intern conversation guide and a short information note for companies.

  5. 5

    Measurable impact

Measurement: internship attendance and completion rates compared with the previous period, an intern satisfaction survey. Example target: mentoring permanently added to the school's internship process.

Why is this example strong?

  • It relies on measurable data the school already keeps (internship attendance).
  • It does not promise a clinical intervention; wellbeing is addressed through learning and support.
  • Involving companies shows the link with the world of work in VET.

How can you adapt it to your organisation?

  • Pull internship dropout data for the last two years from your records; it is the strongest evidence for the needs section.
  • Give mentor students a certificate; it increases motivation.
  • Name one host company as a local stakeholder.

Objectives

• Identify initial needs and develop learning competences related to “Peer Mentoring & Wellbeing Labs for Internships”. • Produce and test wellbeing activity cards and a supportive communication guide; also a work-task portfolio and a skills-assessment rubric with participants. • Monitor progress through voluntary feedback, safe participation and awareness of support resources and integrate effective practices into regular institutional learning.

Activities

1. Identify needs and shared goals Gather participant views on “Peer Mentoring & Wellbeing Labs for Internships”; define access barriers, responsibilities and success indicators. 2. Joint preparation and learning workshop Co-design sample tasks for wellbeing activity cards and a supportive communication guide and review them with a small group. 3. Local pilots and international exchange Participants trial learning activities on emotional awareness, collaboration and help-seeking, monitoring learning and participation rather than clinical outcomes. Partners share sample work and discuss differences between local contexts. 4. Evaluation, sharing and continuity Assess learning through voluntary feedback, safe participation and awareness of support resources, improve resources and incorporate them into regular institutional practice.

Dissemination

Results are introduced to VET providers and sector representatives through a practical sharing session. Partners publish wellbeing activity cards and a supportive communication guide; also a work-task portfolio and a skills-assessment rubric with accessible Turkish and English explanations and plan adaptations into other partner languages. Uptake is tracked through feedback from organisations that try the materials, alongside downloads. Shared examples respect personal data and content permissions.

Budget Logic

Resources are planned for educator preparation, appropriate specialist input and accessible activity design. Each activity is justified by its output and required staff effort or materials. Existing tools and remote collaboration are considered; face-to-face meetings are designed around their learning contribution. Participant numbers, duration and grant amount are set after needs analysis; the source project grant is not treated as this concept’s budget.
